Project-Based Learning

In Project Based Learning, teachers make learning come alive for students. Students work on a project over an extended period of time - from a quarter up to a semester - that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience.

As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. Project Based Learning unleashes contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.

Academic Work

Our curriculum is academically rigorous while providing flexibility to support students needs. We use the US and national standards as benchmarks to monitor our learners progress through the curriculum, and through a learner-centered approach, our students gain mastery in core academic areas including math, science, English Language Arts, and Spanish with a curated selection of the best academic programs.

Enrichments, including art, music, and physical education offer students exciting opportunities to develop talents, discover and explore new interests, enhance confidence, and broaden perspectives.

Project-Based Learning

Our Goal Time block is a vital part of the True North experience. Goals are academic stations, games, and activities that help all students internalize the skills and concepts presented in class.

It is a time when students work independently and develop their autonomy, time management, and planning skills. Most goals revolve around concrete or visual models where students choose, collaborate, and cooperate with peers.

These activities create environments that make concepts and skills tangible and learning memorable and meaningful.
